WHISKY FOR DAFTIES – Alan Anderson, Just the Tonic at the Tavern

As an appreciator of both whisky and comedy I looked forward to this Fringe event and was not disappointed, at least not by the comedy.
Alan Anderson educated the whisky novice in the basics of malt whisky production in Scotland and its initial creation in Ireland, though it might leave veterans of malt whisky production and consumption in some doubt as to the quality of his knowledge. Nevertheless, assisted by a very willing audience, he went through several of Scotland’s finest malts as well as several know blends with well meant, abusive humour. A lively an amusing show, where the audience for once, hopes to get picked on as it will mean the chance of a wee dram.
Recommended for rural touring venues who can cope with a bit of bad language and joviality. Make sure you’ve nothing planned for afterwards though or you might not get to take advantage of the free whisky (we missed out as we needed to sprint to the next show!).
