'Oh The Humanity' Northern Stage in association with Soho Theatre, Northern Stage at St Stephen's; Review by Rosie Cross, Highlights

Review
Five short plays.   One or 2 people on stage whose inners stories and vulnerabilities gradually emerged.   Also an over-arching theme of the fragility and uncertainties of life.   Sensitively written to draw the audience in (sometimes slightly uncomfortable) different ways into the content of the play-lets.  Although this was recommended by China Plate – and could physically be staged for small scale  Rural Touring , I somehow doubt the company would want to tour outside of cities and large festivals.

Why is the work suitable or not suitable / ready for rural touring ?
I feel that the company would not be suited rather than that the work not being suitable.   It is clear that the pieces have been designed for black box theatre spaces.
Why would you book them ?  or  Why wouldn’t you book them ?
See above
Why would it be worth pursuing this company to consider work in the future? Or not  ?
no

Any other comments

Do China Plate really understand what type of companies and shows we, as scheme managers  - are looking offer?  They offer good theatre, but in the main pieces  (and companies) which are designed for traditional theatre spaces.
