The Curious Scrapbook of Josephine Bean
Tuesday 21st August
Traverse Scottish Book Trust

This was the most gorgeous shows for all ages, probably over about 6yrs.  An adult could easily go without a child, in fact 85% of the audience were adults.  It was just lovely.  Shona Reppe is a brilliant and quirky performer and she has made a beautifully intriguing show about scrapbooks.  She plays the part of a 'Doctor' of Scrapbooks.  Wearing a white coat we join her in her 'laboratory' where she leaves through the pages of a Victorian scrapbook.  She uses a stethoscope to listen to sounds from fragments and enlarges some of the smaller bits and bobs on a screen beside her.  She gradually pieces together a lovely romantic story.  The whole thing is quite superb.  Sadly, I understand Shona is not keen on taking this out on the rural circuit unless she can do at least two shows a day in the same venue.  It is quite technical.  However, the good news is Shona is well aware of village hall touring and possibly has other work more suitable.
