4 performers, three men and a woman, played several characters to tell the story of the 3 Musketeers. Or at least their version of it - where the French speak perfect English and the English speak French (bien sur!)
Great fun, very bawdy, lots of silly wigs and cross dressing and jokes about the King's plums!! They sang, they danced, they acted, they entertained a packed crowd with their very own take on this historical story and they looked like they were having huge fun doing it, which of course always rubs off on the audience.
The singing was very slick, as you would expect from a company called Barbershopera , lyrics very funny, the numbers were tightly choreographed and well presented. They used a couple of wooden boxes either side of the stage to store their wigs, costume parts and minimal props, so a very simple production which could easily tour.
As long as you have a broadminded audience this one would definitely go on rural touring, but probably an adult rather than a family show, I would say.
