'Churchill' , Pip Utton, Assembly Rooms, Thurs 16th Aug 12 , Review by Rosie Cross, Highlights

Review
Thought this may be too heavy, but Pip manages beautifully  to mix the facts, historical content and some of the big, well-known speeches with an insight into the more human side of Churchill including some of the funny anecdotes and details about his upbringing,  home life and interests outside politics.   Well crafted; and sensitively presented.   Pip knows his audience well.  Even included a Usain Bolt reference!

Why is the work suitable or not suitable / ready for rural touring ?
Yes. Minimal set.  No sophisticated lighting.   Had music before and after show.    Had a quick chat with Pip after the show who explained that the Edinburgh version was a shorted version .   So the piece for rural touring would be 2 x 40 minutes plus interval (Pip knows how it works! )
Why would you book them ?  or  Why wouldn’t you book them ?
Yes, we’ve had great success with Pip doing his  Charles Dickens show.   So I feel sure we’d get return visits rom people who saw him then.
I don’t think you have to be over a Churchill fan to appreciate the piece
Why would it be worth pursuing this company to consider work in the future? Or not  ?
Yes.  Will be in touch with Pip
