Review
A play for children about the ‘ugly duckling’ story – the message
’that being different’ is unimportant was explored in a variety of ways with different animal
characters encountered by the ‘ugly’ duckling.
The two actors were good performers who sang and danced their way
through the show. The songs were good
and interesting signing – not sure if it was BSL or not – hand movements for
the audience to follow and copy and join in.
The Ugly Duckling sang a catchy refrain throughout and the children in
the audience picked up and joined in with the repetition. The show was alternated between lively
scenes when the signet met new characters and the sad refrain when it felt
lonely and without friends.
