National Theatre of Scotland: Love Letters to the Public Transport System, Assembley Rooms, 21 August
Great storytelling from Molly Taylor
Three threads weave together. ,"Tam is a man with a plan", Margaret meets Gavin in Glasgow and the storyteler herself falls in.love and wants to thank all the drivers of the public transport system who took her to the White Horse in Brixton.
It was a full house at the Assembly rooms butafter a bit of a slow start the audience were living every moment.at times funny, at times moving, every last one left with a smile and feeling of warmth. I met two women in the queue to get in who were giving me thumbs up accros the room as we queued to leave.
Molly is from Liverpool but lives in Glasgow. She champion's the North even if it is through her dissapointment with Northern Rail.
Technically it would be really easy for rural touring - one woman and a bus seat. No complicated lighting or sound. It's quite an urban subject matter , not enough busses in rural Lancashire to resonate perhaps?
Molly is a writer and performer to watch. Great warmth and great observation.
I will be thanking my bus driver tonight.
