Ripstop Theatre - Luminous Tales. Pleasance Courtyard 16/8/12. Review by Esther @ Highlights
‘There’s a little old lady who wont go to bed. She hates the night so much she wants to get rid of it.’ Using a mix of shadow play on two screens, storytelling and soundtrack Luminous Tales used different traditional stories to play with this lovely idea of getting rid of night time and the moon – catching it, eating it etc. The show used lots of puppets, props and projections and managing it all wasn’t always seemless. This show wouldn’t make it on a ‘top ten’ list but it’s a gentle, traditional and quirky little one-women show, visually charming and with good, simple storytelling. Both children and adults enjoyed it. Venues would need a really good blackout.
