A box within a room contains a prison cell and two dancers. Up to 15 people are ushered in to this cramped space. A few sit on stools and others stand at the back for this 11 minute piece about love and ‘mutual necessity’. The cell has only a metal bunk bed, sink and a table with a lamp. The seated audiences are given tourches to light the piece as they choose. The male and female dancers twist, fling and move around each other, over and under the bunks and against the walls. This is an up close and intimate performance. Its intense and passionate and very moving.
This short piece is not for rural touring but worth knowing and seeing more from this company.
