Review Fine Chisel 4.3 miles from nowhere

Name of company Fine Chisel Theatre
Name of show 4.3 miles from nowhere
Genre Physical theatre, music and dance
Venue Zoo
Date 21 August
An endearingly told story with live music from a folk band and some contemporary style dance incorporated, too.  Two pairs of lovers run out of petrol in the woods, on the way to a fancy dress party.  They are accompanied by a "minstrel" type character, charismatic and elusive, but who turns out to be manipulative, with criminal tendencies.  Quirky and fun with believable characters in a rather oddball situation - sometimes slightly dreamlike.  I suppose some references to A Midsummer Night's Dream might be drawn.... - the forest, the dreamlike nature, the two pairs of lovers.  The music was pleasing, the acting and dance well executed.  I found the ending rather abrupt and was actually left wanting more... which I suppose is a good place to be.  I did wonder whether the company had curtailed a slightly longer play in order to fit into the tight Edinburgh schedules???
This is a devised piece and was interesting and refreshing.  Overall it was pleasing, enjoyable and entertaining.  Not too deep, though.

Suitable/ready for rural touring Debatable.  Possibly not with a cast of five plus  musicians.
Would you book them yes possibly subject to cost
Would it be worth pursuing this company to consider work in the future yes definitely - an interesting company.
